LH Wildcats Area Champs!

Well...our football season has come to an end. After an undefeated District championship, Bi-District Championship and Area Championship, the LH Wildcats lost on Saturday to Klein Oak in Roundrock in the playoffs. It was a remarkable season with so many great memories! We are so lucky to have a bunch of great coaches, great players and a great community that supports them! Lots of family headed south to the game on Saturday. Dave had a fan club of 13 adults and 4 little ones to cheer him on! Here are a few pics...
My great friend Emily lives in Austin and met us at the game. It was so fun to see her!

Thanksgiving with the Haggards and Halls...

For Thanksgiving this year, we spent the day with some of Dave's dad's side of the family. We went over to Dave's dad's cousins, Rodney and Linda's house. Can you follow that? Although some of the cousins were with other family, it was a wonderful day with the Haggards and Halls. Anna loved the Thankgiving feast, the Cowboy game and playing with her cousins! Here are some pics from the day...

Lunch With Ash...

On Tuesday we met my very good friend from high school, Ashley, for lunch. She recently got married and moved to Bridgeport. She was in town for Thanksgiving and it was so great to see her. She and I have been friends for so many years and love getting together when we can!

Playoffs Continue...

It was another great win for the Lake Highlands Wilcats on Saturday night. Amanda and I were in Austin celebrating our other friend, Amanda's, bachelorette party the night before and drove to Corsicana to root on the Wildcats against John Tyler on Saturday. My parents kept Anna for me while we were gone and met us in Corsicana for the game. Our other friend Jayme wasn't able to go the bachelorette party because she is a nurse and had to work, but she was off on Saturday night, so she drove from Tyler to meet us. She had to be at work the next morning at 6am, so she is a true football fan!! It was a great game with two very good teams! The 28-27 victory for the Wilcats makes them Area Champs! What an amazing season this continues to be. All my coaching friends and family understand the excitement of having a good season. When you sleep, eat and breathe football, it is awesome to have a successful season!
We play Klein Oak in Roundrock this Saturday at 3:00!

Tony Romo and Will Smith come to Lake Highlands!!!!

There was a peprally at LH on Tuesday for the football team in the playoffs and the volleyball team going to the state tournament this weekend. There were also to special guests, TONY ROMO and WILL SMITH!!! We found out they were going to be there and could not miss it! We are not sure of the connection to LH and why they came there, but it was such a treat! The students didn't know they were coming, so they went crazy when the principal introduced them. Tony and Will gave a great pep talk to the teams and to all of the students about making choices, achieving goals, etc. It was awesome!
Here are some pics from the peprally...

LH Playoffs!!...

After a great regular season and district championship, the Lake Highlands Wildcats are in the state playoffs. Friday we played South Garland at Clark Stadium in Plano. It brought back some good old memories to be back at Clark for Dave and I. Dave's mom and stepdad, "Mimi and PawPaw," brought their RV up from Houston for a little tailgating before the game. It was soooo cold and windy that the party stayed in the RV until the game started and then we froze as we cheered the Wildcats onto a 42-14 victory. Anna Lou made it until halftime and then fell asleep for the rest of the game on Honey. We travel to Corsicana on Saturday to play John Tyler for the Area Championship. Go Cats!! Here are some pics from our tailgate and the game...

Great friends and family eating before the game.
Not a great pic with light reflecting, but cute of ALH and Hudson smiling.

Where in the world is Qatar??

If you are like me, when you first heard of Doha, Qatar, you had no idea where that was. These maps might give you an idea of where the Junod family now calls home. Sorry the top one is blurry.

The Junod's Jaunt...

Well, I don't really know how to start this post. As many of you know, my sister, Wendi, her husband, Nick, and their two boys, Brooks and Barrett, are about to take on an adventure. It's more like a voyage than a jaunt, but I like to pretend it is just a little excursion. They are moving to Doha, Qatar, which is in the middle east. Nick's job at Conoco Phillips takes them there for a few years. They promise it is only temporary and we all are having to keep that in mind. It seems so extreme to so many people and it definitely did when they first told us about it. But...with the Lord's comfort and with only strength that we can find in Him, we are letting them go to this far away land. Nick has been in Doha the past month, while Wendi and the boys have been staying at my parents' house here. It has been an incredible month spending almost every day with them. Wendi and I have always had an abnormally close relationship. Even growing up, we always got along and were the best of friends. I am sure that had to do with Wendi's sweet spirit and selfless attitude, not my "wannabe, follower and probably annoying little sister" actions! When Wendi left for college, it was a very hard time for me, and then when we were both in college together, she soon left there too and once again was a rough time! When we became adults, we became even closer, and now as mamas and wives, we are so close, it's a little ridiculous. We are so thankful for parents that helped mold our sibling relationship to what it has become now. When she was living in Houston, we talked everyday on the phone, so now as they set up camp in Doha, we are going to get our use out of our webcams and Skype! I pray that my children will develop a relationship with eachother as I have with Wendi!

I love my brother-in-law, Nick, as a brother and always have. When Nick came into Wendi's life, he quickly became apart of the Watkins family very easily and with great acceptance. And when I say acceptance, I mean that of course we accepted him, but poor guy was thrown into this extremely bizarre family that knew EVERYTHING about eachother and he accepted us all! Not only has Nick been the brother I always wanted, but such a key part of our family. He is an amazing husband, father, brother, friend and confidant! Nick has been so vigilant and persistent throughout the past few months in this decision, and I have the upmost respect for him.

And I cannot say enough about my two sweet nephews, Brooks and Barrett! Gosh, I love those boys so much! They are just so precious to me and Dave, and little Anna Lou is so blessed to have them as cousins. Brooks with his curious little mind and adventurouse spirit! And Barrett with his sweet little heart and precious little hugs! Those two are the sweetest things with Anna Lou! Anna Lou could sit for hours watching them entertain and love on her! Wendi and I agree that the hardest thing about this move is our kids. It will be difficult for us as our kids grow and change so much in the next few years. But, again we know that this is the right time and God will bless them for their obedience.

The only thing I feel like we can do now is cling to Proverbs 3:5-6... "Trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and lean not on our own understanding, but in all our ways acknowledge Him, for He will make our paths straight." We must trust the Lord completely, even though we do not fully understand. We acknowledge that He is sovereign and has a perfect plan and he will direct the Junod's path.

There are so many people that love the Junods and they touch the lives of so many in a unique way. Now, they will be touching the lives of those that they encounter in Doha. What a priviledge for those that they meet there! Thank you to all of our friends and family that will continue to pray for the Junods and all of our family during this time as the Lord really stretches, teaches and blesses us!

Baylor Homecoming (kinda)...

Last weekend was Baylor Homecoming. We had thought about going, but there was just too much going on, so Wendi and I pretended to have our own Baylor Homecoming at my mom's house. Here are a couple of pics...

Lake Highlands- District Champions!!

It was an incredible night for the Wildcats of Lake Highlands. We were playing Carrolton Creekview for the District Championship game! It ended up being an awesome game with two great teams battling it out. Anna Lou made it all night and even made it through overtime when the Wildcats pulled out the victory! As hard as Dave and all of the coaches work, it was awesome to see them get this big win! It sure makes it worth it when they pull 14 hour work days! I would be just as proud of Dave if we did not win a game this year, but sure makes it more fun when we do win!
Papa and Anna Lou before the game. I took her in her pumpkin costume, but it didn't last long since it was so warm outside!
Our friends, Melissa and Kate. (My fellow coaches wife with a little one at home!)

My family got to come, because my dad's game was on Thursday night this week.

Us after the game. Everyone looking a little tired after the exhausting game.

Big hug for Uncle Dave from Brooks. He always asks me where he is and I say, "coaching football." And the Brooks says, "Uncle Dave is ALWAYS coaching football." Exactly Brooks!

Crawling around on the field after the game. She had no idea it is after 11:00pm!

You can't see it, but behind all of the players was a new banner put up after the game saying "LH Wildcats- 2008 9-5A Champions! The players went crazy when the saw it!
